United States District Court

Students against Apartheid Coalition v. O'Neil, 660 F. Supp. 333 (W.D. Va., 1987). College students are known for exercising their constitutional right of free speech. In 1986, when University of Virginia students attempted to protest their University's investments in South Africa by their symbolic speech of building residential "shanties" on the venerable lawn of the University, the University prevented them from doing so, charging them with violations of University regulations. Brock Green assisted in bringing a lawsuit which found the University's regulation of the students' free speech was unconstitutional and in violation of their rights.
