Virginia Court of Appeals
Lightburn v. Lightburn, 22 Va. App. 612, 472 S.E.2d 281 (1996). A married couple had been living together for only four months when our client, the wife, left the marital residence. After a trial, the Madison County Circuit Court granted her a property award of $132,500, and an award of attorney's fees, but did not give her any spousal support. The Court of Appeals reversed the decision and remanded it to the trial court for a retrial because the judge gave no spousal support, in part, because he has provided so much property.
